Sunday Streets SF

San Francisco Public Relations Committee is looking for volunteers to help with Sunday Streets SF. Sunday Streets is a six-series event happening throughout San Francisco this summer. The next Sunday Streets is July 10 @ 11am-4 pm on Valencia Street. Volunteers are needed at the A.A. information table! Help carry the message to the still-suffering alcoholic who may not know about A.A. For more information, email [email protected].
 

 

Save the Date: National A.A. Technology Workshop 2022

The National A.A. Technology Workshop (NAATW) is hosting an immersive event about the theme “Moving Forward Together”. Those interested in using technology in service to A.A. are encouraged to attend in order to share their experience, gather ideas and bring learnings back to their groups. This is a hybrid event, so you can consider attending in-person in Seattle or participating virtually.

Western Roundup Living Sober Conference

The 47th Annual Western Roundup Living Sober Conference is July 1-3 in San Francisco. The longest-running U.S. conference for LGBTQ+ A.A. members is happening in-person and features engaging workshops, inspiring speakers and fun fellowship. Register here
 

 

Central Office Holiday Closure

Central Office will be closed on July 2 in observance of Independence Day. It will resume regular hours of operation next week, which are Tuesday to Friday 10-6pm and Saturdays 12-4pm.

 

July 4 Meetings and Barbecues

Looking for meetings and fellowship on July 4? You have options in Marin! At noon, head to a speaker meeting at the Marin Alano Club (1360 Lincoln Ave. San Rafael).
 


 

For additional meetings, head to All Saints Church (2 San Marin Drive, Novato) where you’ll find consecutive meetings starting @ 1pm. The last meeting is @ 7pm and will include chips to celebrate sobriety milestones. Bring a side dish or dessert to share!

Recharge your A.A. batteries! Join the 7th Annual Unity & Service Conference July 8-10 to learn more about A.A.’s 12 Traditions and 12 Concepts. Hear about their practical application in and out of the rooms of A.A. The goal of the conference is to inspire attending members to volunteer for General Service and discover more ways to live the principles of A.A. every day.

On June 11, Central Office welcomes the Marin and San Francisco Fellowship with a celebratory open house in honor of Founders’ Day and the 75th Anniversary of San Francisco & Marin Intergroup. See flyer for details. Stop by between 1-4pm, 1821 Sacramento St., San Francisco.

Reminder: Working Group on Digital Access

East Bay Intergroup is leading a national working group to serve our primary purpose in the digital age. The group has created tutorials for webmasters and held classes for groups to become more accessible on the Internet. Anyone with an interest can join—you don’t have to be a tech expert! Delegate’s Final Report

Join One of These Collaboration Efforts

In California Northern Coastal Area (CNCA), several service committees are meeting to learn from each other about how to better serve our primary purpose in A.A. These service committees include: Public Information and Cooperation With the Professional Community (PI/CPC), Hospitals and Institutions (H&I), Bridging the Gap and Accessibilities. You do not have to be a committee member to participate. June 9 @ 7pm
 

In a similar effort around sharing ideas, East Bay Intergroup is leading a national working group to serve our primary purpose in the digital age. The group comprises current and past members of PI/CPC, Technology, and Treatment and Corrections committees. They’ve created tutorials for webmasters and held classes for groups to help them become more accessible online. Anyone interested can join—you don’t have to be a tech expert to help! June 11 @ 9am
 

 

Central Office Hours

Starting June 1, Central Office has changed its regular hours of operation. It is now open Tuesday to Friday 10-6pm and Saturdays 12-4pm. Visit us at 1821 Sacramento St. (cross street Van Ness) to pick up A.A. literature and sobriety medallions.

San Francisco and Marin Intergroup held its monthly meeting on June 1. There’s lots of news to share! Here’s the latest to bring back to your groups. 

1. Intergroup held elections for three new Board positions. These candidates, all from Marin, were elected to serve: Andrew S., Gloria E. and Judy W.  Many thanks to outgoing Board members Alan G., Drew H. and Luke H. for their service.

2. Founders’ Day Open House and 75th Anniversary of Intergroup is June 11 @ 1-4pm at Central Office, 1821 Sacramento St., San Francisco. Sign up to volunteer here. Masks are encouraged to help stop the spread of COVID.

3. Central Office is welcoming back volunteers! To learn more or to sign up for a weekly two-hour shift, email [email protected].

Take the Challenge! Donate $6.06 on 6/06

If every A.A. member sent in $6.06 on June 6 (6/06), we’d help the General Service Office be self-supporting for the coming year! Here’s how each Area can meet the challenge—please alert your group about this opportunity to give back.

  • Groups collect $6.06 for each member on or before June 6

  • Groups donate to the General Service Board on June 6

  • Contributions can be made online at aa.org. Be sure to mention the “6.06 Challenge” with your donation and include your group number.
     

 

Kick Off Summer with a MCYPAA Bonfire

Young in age or young at heart—all are welcome at the Marin County Young People of Alcoholics Anonymous speaker meeting and bonfire on the beach. Join in fellowship on June 11 @ 6pm at Muir Beach. Help Newcomers Make the Transition to A.A.

San Francisco Bridging the Gap (BTG) supports newcomers from a hospital, treatment center or correctional facility to connect with Alcoholics Anonymous. By providing a temporary contact, BTG helps new members make the transition to a new way of life. San Francisco BTG meets monthly online on the first Tuesday of the month. If you want to attend the meeting to learn more or be trained as a volunteer, please email San Francisco BTG at [email protected] to get a link to join the next meeting.

A working group is revitalizing the pamphlet “A.A. for the Black and African-American Alcoholic“. The updated pamphlet will include fresh stories and a new title that is respectful, inclusive and reflects the perspective of Black A.A. members sharing their experience, strength and hope. Consider sharing your story as part of this effort. Submission guidelines in the flyer below.

The stories in this book show how members begin to pray and meditate and then branch out to develop very personal, and often creative, ways to practice. Prayer & Meditation is now available at our Central Office bookstore or you can order online.

Central Office Welcomes You!

When’s the last time you stopped by Central Office? Consider this your official invitation for a visit. You can browse all the literature, pick up pamphlets for your group, shop for anniversary chips for sponsees, and say “hi” to the Central Office crew. It’s been kinda quiet since the pandemic and it would be great to see you :) Central Office is open Tues.-Sat. 10am to 6pm, at 1821 Sacramento St., San Francisco.

 


 

 

Planning Sobriety by the Bay

The Sobriety by the Bay (SBTB) committee is looking for enthusiastic people interested in helping to plan next year’s conference, which takes place at Grace Cathedral church in San Francisco. A number of service members on the planning committee are rotating out, opening a variety of opportunities for service. SBTB is holding an important planning meeting at Central Office, 1821 Sacramento St. in San Francisco on Sunday, June 5 @ 12pm. If you are interested in being of service, join the meeting.
