Post-Conference Assembly

Can’t wait to hear about what happened at this year’s General Service Conference in New York? You’re in luck as the hybrid Post-Conference Assembly is May 11 @ 9am-5:30pm at the Willits Community Center, in Willits. Hosted by CNCA 06, this event features our Area Delegate who will share what they saw, felt and heard including updates on the Plain Language Big Book translation and the proposed pamphlets for the Transgender Alcoholic, the Unhoused Alcoholic and the Asian and Asian-American Alcoholic.

AA Grapevine Prices are Going Up

Intergroup is raising our AA Grapevine prices starting May 15. As you may know, AA Grapevine raised their prices in 2023 and Intergroup purchased a substantial amount of literature to delay the price increase on our end however it is now time to raise our prices. So don’t delay getting Grapevine literature at the current price, including the newest book, Our Twelve Steps! Visit us at Central Office or purchase online at shop.aasfmarin.org.

On Saturday, June 8, San Francisco and Marin Intergroup presents Founders’ Day ‘Picnic in the Park’ at Golden Gate Park’s Lindley Meadow, in San Francisco. Join us from 12-3:30pm for a fun-filled fellowship event including picnic, lawn games, dessert potluck and a speaker meeting with Ron D (Lincoln, CA). Help spread the word. Founders Day in Marin, hosted by Marin Fellowship Committee, is Sunday, June 9 from 11:30am-3:30pm at Gerstle Park, in San Rafael. A.A. speaker meeting starts at 12pm with Kate K and Jeff J. followed by music, picnic, fun and games.

HelpChat Orientation

Have you wondered who is on the other side of the blue “Need Help?” chat bubble on our website? It’s A.A. volunteers! And, you can be one of them. HelpChat is a great way to practice the 12th Step and be there for the newcomer who reaches out for help. Volunteers answer chats from their smartphones or laptops and on their own schedules. Come to an orientation on April 23 @ 5pm.

Delegate’s Report at the Post-Conference Assembly

The 74th General Service Conference took place this past week in Brooklyn, NY. Hear everything our Area Delegate saw, felt and heard at the Conference during the upcoming hybrid Post-Conference Assembly. The Delegate’s Report will include the results of the Conference deliberations on the agenda items for the Plain Language Big Book translation and proposed pamphlets for the Transgender Alcoholic, the Unhoused Alcoholic, and the Asian and Asian-American Alcoholic.

Many remarkable women found recovery in the early days of A.A., including Florence R., the first woman alcoholic to have her story published in the Big Book. Learn about one of our prominent pioneers on Saturday, May 4 @ 9:30am. The 4W AA Group presents a history talk by Mily T. (San Francisco, CA) on “The Most Unlikely Journey of Florence R.”, followed by an A.A. Speaker Meeting.
 

Save The Date: Annual H&I Conference

The 48th Annual Hospital and Institution Conference is May 3-5 in Bakersfield, CA. The conference combines Northern and Southern California H&I Committees for an amazing weekend of panels, speakers and fellowship. This year’s theme is “A State of Love and Service”. All are welcome, and you do not need to be a member of an H&I committee to attend. Pre-register here before April 24.

Teleservice Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are needed for the Teleservice 12th Step list and may be contacted to reach out to a newcomer. By signing up for the 12th Step Volunteer list, you may be asked to call a newcomer or make a 12th Step visit (with another A.A. member). If you have a minimum of 6-months sobriety, please sign up for this important position. Also, Teleservice is looking to fill the following committee positions: Tuesday Daily Coordinator and Vice Chair. To learn more and get involved, attend the Teleservice Orientation on April 15 @ 6pm.

Coastal Hike Event

The Marin Fellowship Committee is organizing a “Trudging the Road of Happy Destiny” coastal hike. Scheduled for April 20 @ 9:30am, participants will gather at the north end of Rodeo Beach, in Sausalito. Following the A.A. meeting, attendees will embark on a hike along the coastal trails. Friends, family members and dogs are all welcome to join the excursion.

 Save the Date: International Convention of A.A.

The next International Convention of Alcoholics Anonymous will be held in Vancouver, Canada, July 3-6, 2025. This is the largest A.A. convention, attracting upwards of 50,000 people and featuring more than 250 meetings! It is held once every five years, but was canceled in 2020 due to COVID. Information about how to register and book hotels will be posted this summer and registration (plus hotel booking) will open in September. 
 

Marin Pop Up Bookstore

Join us for the Marin Pop Up Bookstore on April 15 @ 6:45pm-9pm. The Pop-Up is held monthly at the Marin General Service meeting, located at 930 Tamalpais Avenue, San Rafael. Pre-order literature for pick up at shop.aasfmarin.org. See you there!
