In 1939 a woman named Zilpah Oram owned a boarding house in near Duboce Park. She heard the national radio show that featured A.A. members, and wrote to the A.A. New York office asking how she could help one of her guests, Ted C. That led to the first A.A. meeting in San Francisco.
