Young People’s Video Project

General Service is looking for video submissions that carry A.A.’s message to young alcoholics who have yet to come to A.A., especially those in high school or college. If you would like to submit a video, focus on your experience of getting sober young to better reflect the diversity of our Fellowship. Click here for more info about this project. Deadline: November 7, 2022.

Intergroup News

Intergroup held its monthly meeting on October 5. Here’s the latest news to take back to your groups.

  1. Gratitude Month in November is an important way to express your gratitude for your gift of sobriety. The additional contributions from Gratitude Month support A.A. service entities and the essential services that Central Office provides. Talk to your groups now to get ready for Gratitude Month. Gratitude Month will be especially important this year as Intergroup is experiencing a deficit because individual and group contributions have declined since the pandemic. Contribute online at aasfmarin.org/contributions.

  2. Central Office REALLY needs IT support. Please spread the word that Central Office is looking for assistance to upgrade its internet from DSL to fiber. (Yes, it’s true—we are still on DSL!) Contact [email protected] to share your knowledge and help Central Office upgrade to a standard that allows real-time communications with alcoholics and service entities.

  3. Central Office needs more volunteers! Email [email protected] to sign up for a weekly 2-hour shift. One year of sobriety is required.

    Intergroup Service Committees

Please announce these service opportunities at your meetings. Remember—anyone can join the service committees. You do not need to be an Intergroup Rep to participate!

  • Archives Committee is looking for volunteers to help preserve A.A. history. Its next meeting is October 16 @ 12pm (at Central Office and online).

  • Sunshine Club brings meetings to A.A. members in Marin and San Francisco who are unable to attend regularly scheduled meetings due to illness, accident or a disabling medical condition. Its next volunteer orientation is October 26 @ 7:30pm online. Email [email protected] for details.

  • The Point published its special service-focused October edition and will distribute copies of The Point at the upcoming Unity Day events. If you would like to submit a personal story of recovery, visit aasfmarin.org/the-point.

  • San Francisco Public Relations meets on October 10 @ 7pm online. In the spirit of rotation, it is looking for volunteers to take commitments, including a new committee chair. Also, get involved with the Sunday Streets SF on October 16.

  • HelpChat Committee provides a live chat service (via Slack) for anyone new to A.A. or existing members who reach out from the aasfmarin.org website. It is in need of a new committee chair. Please step up and be of service!

Halloween Meeting and Dance

San Francisco Mission Fellowship at 2900 24th Street invites you to enjoy fellowship and dancing on October 29, immediately following the regular 7pm A.A. meeting, “Chip on the Shoulder”. Ray L. will deejay until 10pm.

Reminder: Unity Days in SF and Marin

San Francisco Unity Day is tomorrow; Marin Unity Day is October 15. These annual service fairs offer the chance to meet representatives from A.A. service entities and Intergroup, participate in orientations and workshops and hear representatives discuss the value of our service organizations. You can also participate online.

Register Today! Kindred Spirits

Tomorrow is the 9th Annual Kindred Spirits Conference. This event for women in A.A. is presented in cooperation with our sister program and takes place in person at Redwoods Presbyterian Church (110 Magnolia Ave., Larkspur).

Central Office Closed this Saturday

Central Office will be closed on October 8 in observance of Indigenous Peoples Day. It will resume regular hours of operation next week, which are Tuesday to Friday 10-6pm and Saturdays 12-4pm.
