Re-opening? At Last?

With the move to the “Orange” tier in both Marin and San Francisco, we are beginning to make plans for a partial re-opening of Central Office. More information will be made available as plans evolve, though we hope to be open for walk-ins in the next 4 to 6 weeks. In the meantime, our shipping and curbside pickup options are still available for literature purchased online. We’d like to acknowledge the above and beyond efforts of both the Marin and SF Teleservice committees for coordinating 24/7 phone line coverage over the last 12 months and appreciate them continuing to do so until more of us are able to safely re-enter public spaces again.

We are anticipating some groups will begin to make a shift back to in-person. Some information, including links to both county health departments, can be found in the “Considerations for Reopening” document here.

Please keep us posted about your meetings’ plans so we can maintain an accurate online schedule. Changes to meetings can be submitted through the “Update Meeting Info” button on each meeting’s listing in the schedule; information for new meetings can be submitted online as well. All of the relevant details and instructions can be found here.

Town Hall Debrief

On Thursday, March 18, the IFAA Intergroup hosted a Town Hall on the Future of the Big Book, in cooperation with General Service District 06 San Francisco and District 10 Marin. The Town Hall featured a screening of a video presentation by the A.A. General Service Board, titled, “The Big Book: Researching Issues, Possible Tools and Access”. Over 100 A.A. members showed up and shared their experience, strength and hope for 90 minutes on the topic of the Big Book and Accessibility. Their feedback was audio recorded and will be compiled into a summary and shared with the Trustees of the General Service Board and with you all in the next issue of The Buzz. In the meantime, if you want to learn more, please email Jackie B. at [email protected] or speak to your group’s General Service Representative (GSR).
